Fully Uninstalling Ctrl Suite & Removing Associated Files (Windows)

This guide covers all steps to fully uninstall Ctrl Suite from your Windows computer, including removing your license, the uninstalling all parts of the application, the Ctrl Engine Service and clearing cached data within the AppData folder.

Note: To complete all steps within this guide, you must have administrator privaleges on your computer.

Removing Ctrl Designer

Uninstalling Ctrl Designer

Uninstalling the Ctrl Designer application is a quick and easy process.

  • Firstly, make sure you have synced any changes to Ctrl Engine before removing Ctrl Designer from your computer.
  • Close Ctrl Designer.
  • Navigate to Windows > Add or Remove Programs, under Installed Apps, search for Ctrl Designer.
  • Next, press Uninstall next to Ctrl Designer.
  • Press finish once this has completed.

Removing Cached Files

To remove all cached data, navigate to:

C:\Users\ your_username\AppData\Roaming

Then delete the Ctrl Designer and ctrl-designer folders from your computer.

Removing Files from Documents - Media Hub

  • Open the My Documents folder in Windows, then navigate to the Ctrl Designer folder.
    • This folder contains all Media Hub assets used within your workspaces
    • If you haven't already, back these files up (/zip them) to ensure all images can be used in other workspaces on other computers.
  • Once backed up, the whole folder can be deleted.

Removing Ctrl Engine

Unlicensing Ctrl Engine

Before Uninstalling Ctrl Engine, ensure that it is no longer licensed. Deleting all files will also delete your Ctrl Engine License.

Note if you deleted or uninstalled your license before uninstallling Ctrl Engine. Restore the defeted folders from the recycle bin to ensure your license is not deleted. Re-install Ctrl Engine and uninstall the license before starting the removal process again.

Uninstalling Ctrl Engine

Uninstalling the Ctrl Engine & Ctrl Engine Manager application is a quick and easy process.

  • Firstly open Ctrl Engine Manager and Stop Ctrl Engine from running.
  • Once stopped, quit Ctrl Engine Manager.
  • Navigate to Windows > Add or Remove Programs and under Installed Apps, search for Ctrl Engine.
  • Next, press Uninstall next to Ctrl Engine. This will uninstall both Ctrl Engine and Ctrl Engine Manager.
  • Press finish once this has completed.

Removing Cached files from System32

As Ctrl Engine runs as a System Service, its files and workspaces are stored in the Windows System32 file structure. To access this location for the first time you will need to open each sub-folder, providing Admin permissions each step of the way. (Entering the filepath directly will not show the file locaion).

(This is how Ctrl Suite ensures that workspaces are secured behind PC Admin permissions when on an installation).

The file directoty Ctrl Engine and CtrlNet can be found at is:

C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming

This location is also shown be found in the Settings > System tab of the Ctrl Engine Web interface.

If Ctrl Engine has been unlicensed, and all workspaces have already been backed up, delete the Ctrl Engine and CtrlNet folders.

Removing Cached Files

To remove all cached data, navigate to:

C:\Users\ your_username \AppData\Roaming

Then delete the Ctrl Engine, Ctrl Engine Manager,ctrl-engine and CtrlNet folders from your computer.

Removing Ctrl Player

Uninstalling the Ctrl Player application is a quick and easy process.

  • Close Ctrl Player.
  • Navigate to Windows > Add or Remove Programs, under Installed Apps, search for Ctrl Player.
  • Next, press Uninstall next to Ctrl Player.
  • Press finish once this has completed.

Removing Cached Files

To remove all cached data, navigate to:

C:\Users\ your_username\AppData\Roaming

Then delete the Ctrl Player and ctrl-player folders from your computer.
