Troubleshooting & Debugging

To rule out any potential network issues and to ensure you are sending the correct control strings, ON LX recommends running our Windows / Mac application CommsKit to monitor and display the messages you are sending from Ctrl for iPad to ensure everything is working as intended.

Simply run CommsKit on a computer on the same network as your iPad, define its IP address as a patch within Ctrl for iPad and start sending your strings to it.

Ctrl for iPad version 2.2.1 introduced a debugging console to view every key action taking place within the App. This allows users to filter and export logs then send them to devices using AirDrop, email or any other platform.

To enable the Debug Console:

  • Navigate to your iPads Settings.
  • Scroll down to the Ctrl logo and select it.
  • Toggle the switch for 'Enable Debug Console' to the ON position.
  • Navigate back to your Ctrl for iPad workspace to start using the debug console.

When the debug log is enabled, 5 additional icons will be shown on the right hand side of the interface:

  • View log
  • Filter & Export
  • Enable pass through
  • Track bottom of line
  • Clear log
