Manage Engines

Ctrl Engine is the element of Ctrl Suite responsible for running Workspaces.

After Ctrl Engine is installed & configured on the machine intended to run the workspace, Ctrl Designer will be able to discover, adopt, and then start syncing workspaces to it.

It's reccomended that you connect Ctrl Designer to Ctrl Engine when creating a workspace if available. - This allows real-world testing to be undertaken.

The Manage Engines window can be accessed at any time within Ctrl Designer by either:

  • Clicking on the Engines gear icon in the bottom left corner of the Ctrl Designer interface.
  • Navigating to Tools > Manage Engines.
  • Using the Ctrl+Shift+E keyboard shortcut.

Adopting an Engine in Ctrl Designer

  • Press the Add Engine button.
  • Discovery will happen automatically.
  • Select the Engine to adopt.
  • Enter the credentials for the Ctrl Engine administrator account created when configuring the Ctrl Engine Incidence to link it to your Designer session.

Once linked to a Ctrl Engine incidence, the status of Ctrl Engine and all associated licenses will be displayed.

Disconnect

The Disconnect button can be used at any time to terminate the connection with a Ctrl Engine incidence.

Open Admin UI

The Open Admin UI button is used to open a web browser window on your computer targeted at the IP address and port number of the Ctrl Engine incidence to provide fast access to its Admin Web interface.

Whilst linked, the workspace being edited can be synced at any time using the controls in the bottom left corner of the Ctrl Designer window.
