Interface Editor Overview

The Ctrl Designer's Interface Editor allows you to build and test user interfaces that allow end users of your control system to interact with your devices easily. by viewing them on the Ctrl Player app.

Ctrl Designer saves all changes in real-time as you make edits.

Creating Interfaces

The right-hand side of the Ctrl Designer Interface editor contains all tools required to populate and configure UI components on your user interfaces. Create Sliders, Buttons and advanced options like Switching User, Battery Power Indicator, Device Specific Modules & more.

Previewing your Interface

To use Ctrl Designer's Test Mode to verify the output commands you have created. Sync your Ctrl Suite workspace to a connected Ctrl Engine (using the Ctrl+S Sync keyboard shortcut).

  • Note: Ctrl Designer must be connected to Ctrl Engine and your workspace must be syncronised to it to begin sending protocols directly from Ctrl Designer test mode.

  • Note: Only outbound triggers will work within Ctrl Designer's Interface Test View. Control context has not been enabled in Ctrl Designer's Test Mode to remotely update button labels or apperance from an inbound protocols - To view and test your Ctrl Player interfaces in full connect a Ctrl Player to your Ctrl Engine and interact with it as a same way an end user of the system would.

Export Snapshot

During the interface creation stage, the Export Snapshot option can be used to export the interface being viewed as a .png image file.

Think of this feature as a high accuracy screengrab that precisely crops out your interface. - This feature is ideal for creating mockup interfaces and sending them to your end client for them to provide feedback ahead of deployment.

Once your interface design is complete. You can begin to build two-way interactions by allowing remote protocols or commands control your interfaces remotely to automate their visual appearance. Use the Interface and Render Process blocks within Processes to do this.

To view and interact with your intrfaces, connect a Ctrl Designer instance to Ctrl Engine.
