What's your recommendation for a computer to run Ctrl Engine?

Ctrl Engine has been designed to consume as little computing resource as possible.

Usage depends on if you are processing basic commands and triggers that require basic I/O or are using constantly changing data values with complex logic running within your Ctrl Suite Processes evaluating every frame (i.e. constantly streaming variables).

For a good all-rounder we typically, recommend a compact, small form-factor computer (like an Intel NUC) with the following or equivalent specification:

  • Quad-core i3 processor
  • 16GB of RAM
  • SSD with >380MB/s read write speed

Nice to have:

  • Passive cooling.
  • Raid 1 SSD arrangement
  • Windows 11 Pro

This specification covers the vast majority of use cases. When designing complex and data intensive workflows in Ctrl Suite. Wherever possible, if you are specifying a computer for a specific installation, we recommend you create a mock-up workspace to test on a computer you already have access to in order to see its CPU performance. (This can be done without a Ctrl Engine License).
